Modernizing Flight Operations at OMNI Air

How SEQTEK replaced a legacy application to accelerate workflows and deliver real-time visibility.

The problem

OMNI Air relied on a legacy application to support a critical flight preparation process: collecting aircraft loading information and generating a center-of-gravity (COG) report for the flight crew.

Ground personnel entered information about passengers, cargo, and other aircraft loads into the application. They then printed the COG report and physically delivered it to the flight crew, who used the information to enter data into the aircraft’s onboard software.

While the process served its purpose, it created several operational challenges:

  • Limited visibility: Operations could not see the report information in real time, making it harder to monitor flight preparation and verify details.
  • Manual handoffs: Delivering a printed report added steps and required coordination between ground personnel and the flight crew.
  • Weather exposure: Paper reports could get wet in poor weather, making information harder to read and sometimes requiring additional verification with the crew.
  • Technology constraints: The legacy application limited OMNI Air’s ability to introduce new features and improve the workflow.

OMNI Air needed more than an updated application. It needed a better way to move critical information between the ground team, flight crew, and operations.

The solution

SEQTEK worked with OMNI Air to understand the existing process, identify the friction points, and translate operational needs into a modern application.

The work focused on three priorities: simplify the ground team’s workflow, automate report delivery, and provide operations with real-time visibility.

SEQTEK rewrote the legacy application to support a connected, tablet-based process. Ground personnel could enter aircraft loading information on a tablet, and the resulting COG report could be delivered digitally to the flight crew, eliminating the need to print and physically carry the report to the aircraft.

The new application also gave operations real-time access to report information, closing a visibility gap in the previous process.

Before and after. Before: ground crew entered loads into a legacy application, the center-of-gravity report was printed and carried to the aircraft, paper got wet in bad weather and had to be re-checked with the crew, and operations could not see the report as it happened. With SEQTEK: ground crew enters loads on a tablet, the report is delivered digitally to the flight crew, there is no paper to carry, and operations sees report information in real time.

The results

  • Faster information delivery

Automated digital delivery removed the printing and physical handoff steps, helping the ground team get report information to the flight crew more efficiently.

  • Real-time operational visibility

Operations gained access to COG report information as it became available, supporting better coordination and timely verification.

  • Less dependence on paper

Digital reports eliminated the weather-related problems associated with carrying printed reports to the aircraft.

  • A foundation for continued improvement

Replacing the legacy application created a more adaptable platform for the additional capabilities OMNI Air wanted to introduce.

The impact

The modernized application changed how information moved across flight operations.

For OMNI Air, application modernization was an opportunity to improve the business process itself. By connecting the people who prepare, receive, and oversee aircraft loading information, SEQTEK helped turn a manual, paper-based workflow into a faster, more visible digital process.
